Commonly known as "Kansas's Finest Young Magician", I, Jay Temaat am doing my best to spread my name across the nation! I have an award winning competition act, "THE IMPOSSIBLE MISSION". In January, 2012, with great honor, I won 1st place at Magic on the Beach in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This was only my 3rd competition! The 1st competition I competed in was the 2011 World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, the 2nd was at the 2011 International Brotherhood of Magicians Annual Conference in Dallas, Texas.
I started performing fun magic shows for family etc. at 8 years old, then professionally at the age of 12 for schools, nursing homes, luncheons, and private parties. My passion for magic continued to grow. In 2009, 2010 and 2011, I attended the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. In the 3 days prior to the seminar, I was able to participate in the teen weekend hosted by Lance Burton, where teen magicians from all over the world met, performed, and learned from each other. February 2011, I was awarded the highest scholarship given to a teenage magician--a full tuition scholarship for a Master Class at the world famous McBride Magic and Mystery school in Las Vegas. Fortunately, my school administration approved my extended stay in Las Vegas and I was able to attend the Master Class immediately following the World Magic Seminar. 2011 was the year that changed my direction in life. I am 100% committed to making magic my lifetime career.
While at the McBride Magic and Mystery School, I learned about stage presence, how to view performances as a business, and how to change magic from a hobby into a career.
Throughout the rest of 2011, I received multiple first place awards for competitive speaking and acting in forensics through Frontenac High School. I also performed several large illusion shows, as well as, my average size show, where I perform walk around magic, a small stage performance, and table magic. I plan to continue to compete throughout the United States with the intention of getting to know as many people as possible. I hope to travel the world, making people smile as I magically lure them into my world of happiness!
